Term 4 Goals 2017

Since this year is my last year and this Term is my last Term at TAI. I want to finish my year on a high, but the only way to do so is to make some goals. My first goal for Term Four is to learn how to use commas correctly. My next goal is to not talk and/or get distracted by others next to me or around me. Since we have Nicky and Harold at our school, I also want to make a goal and ask more questions about this particular topic that we are focusing on. Another goal would have to be to elaborate my ideas when writing a free choice peice of writing. All these goals pretty much sum up my Term Four goals.

Term 3 Holidays recap

On the first weekend of the holidays I went and helped mum dock some sheep. Since mums a vet, she allows me to go help her and I also get paid from it. We drove out to Otorohanga for this job, and the man who owns the farm is Mike. Mike is the owner of a sheep farm, he also breeds lots of Murray Grey's and sells lots of bulls too. This year was his first year going for a bull sale and luckily enough, I got to cook food for everyone there and help wash the bulls before auction. Anyway, on the Sunday of this weekend, Mike and my Mum were going to dock some Sheep, but didnt have enough people to do so. So I volunteered to help, but first I worked out a deal. Ten bucks an hour, and even then, mum gave me more afterwards. So to dock the sheep, you put them down a little shot, upside down facing. Then you have to vaccinate them twice, give them a drench down the throat, put a hole in their ears, use a scratch on their fore leg, put a rubber band on their tales and put a spray on there stomach. All these drenches and that help the sheep fight against certain diseases. My job was to put a hole in their ears and to also give each sheep two vaccinations. After about six hours worth of docking sheep, I made myself $70 and we managed to dock 296 lambs.
On Wednesday, my sister Anita and I went out to our mums clients daughters house, Kate's house. She also lives out in Otorohanga and also lives on a farm. This year for calf club we got our calves from their house and they are really good calves too. The whole point of going out to her house was to spend lots of quality time brushing, leading and washing our calves. On Saturday we had the MataMata A&P Show. My calf, Mia, did very well winning a first in Rearing. A fifth in Type and a Third place overall for Rearing (out of 70 calves). Unfortunately Anita's calf, Zee, didn't win anything, and Kate won a First in Rearing, a sixth in Type and Reserve Champion overall for Rearing (2nd place in front of me). Kate and I were very close competition as the judges had to decide the Reserve champion between us and also fifth and sixth for Type.
On Tuesday my mum, two others plus me, drove down to New Plymouth. We were heading down to my grand parent's house to dehorn some calves and also vaccinate. As soon as we got out of the car, we were straight into it. Trent on clipping and shaving around the horn, Aleisha on injecting local anesthetic around the horns, me on vaccinating each calf twice, keeping track of how many calves we did and also to inject the calves so they fall asleep. Then my mum dehorn's the calves after everyone else has done their jobs. Overall we did 129 calves and it took us about four hours to do all the calves and also four hours driving time. For this job I earnt $130 and I was stoked with that.
Once again Anita and I went to Kate's house. This time on Friday to again, wash, brush and lead the calves. The next competition for us is next week held at Te Awamutu Primary School. Anita and I usually do really well at these smaller events as there aren't as many people in it. At the A&P Shows, there are about 20-30 people in each ring, and about 10 in the non A&P Shows. On Saturday Anita, Kate, Trent and I went to dck more sheep. This time it was for fun and we docked about 160 sheep. This time docking was really fun as the sheep were bigger and escaped from their pen alot. Therefore having to catch them before they jump out or go and catch them. r another had days work I ended up catching six sheep and caught an Eel. After docking we wnt out more onto Mike's farm and went and caught Eels. I ended up catching one and we had loads of fun catching them. I will keep you guys updated with next weeks lot next week.

AIMS Week 2017

At AIMS there are many different sports (23 to be exact). I was in two of those 23 sports, BMX and Football. On Sunday my sister was doing the Cross Country, so I had to go watch and support her. Anita and I are both conveniently in the AIMS Football teams for Te Awamutu Intermediate School. We had to be at our motel on Sunday as well, so that worked in our faver.

On Monday we had our first three games. At this point we didn't know many of the competitors as they were from many different schools from around New Zealand. The first three games were hard. It was constantly going down our end then unanticipated went down there end of the field. Unfortunately we lost all of our games on Monday, but we all had fun trying.

On Tuesday the team played another three games. I was at BMX on Tuesday so I didnt play. But I heard lots about the day from the Football team. Once again we lost all our games. but they were actually close games. The first couple games we did reasonably well in. The team managed to lose by one or two goals. The final game, not so much. We lost about 6-0. Meanwhile I was at the Tauranga BMX Track doing time trials. Essentially what happens is that each rider has a small, yellow transponder on the front forks of their bike. This device tracks how long your race is from start to finish, and they are exact times too. Each rider then races on the track twice (by them selves) to get an individual time put under their name. Overall I got 44.75 seconds for my first trial and 45.65 seconds for my second run through. For this event I got ninth overall.

On Wednesday morning it was an early start, getting up at about 5:45 to make lunches, pack day packs, get gear on and drive to the sports ground. Our first game was at 9:30am and we were tired, but still strenuous enough to carry on. We thankfully drew our first game 0-0 to MataMata Intermediate School. I really enjoyed this game more than the rest that I had played, because it was more even and Tai had the ball more, which gave us confidence. Unfortunately their defense was really onto it and stopped us fro getting a goal multiple times. The next game was also very even, miserably in the rain we lost 2-0. And in the last game of the day we lost again 2-0. After the last game we were all feeling down, wet and tired. For Hannah this was worse as she was feeling really sick and not bothered to do much activeness on the field. After all of the games we headed down to the Mount Manganui Hot Pools for a relaxing swim. One hour later we were all freshened up and ready to head back to the motel.

On Thursday I had BMX again, but this time it was actual racing. In this event we had to race against one another to get a placing. We still had the transponders on our bikes, just in case we had a "photo finish", but times instead. In this event I got ninth again. Winning my B-final with two points off from making the final. In this event we had five races and who ever had the top eight placings got a spot in the final, unfortunately for me I was two points off. So I had to go into the B-Final, and I infact won it, getting the overall placing off ninth. Back at Blake park, we had one game at 9:30 again and we didn't have much talking going on on the field so we lost again 8-0. I was luckily back at 2:30 in time for our second game at 3pm. For everone else it was great I was back, because we finally had a sub as Sam left, Anita was sick and Hannah wasn't feeling well either. So we had a sub so everyone can change if required. Once again we played against MataMata, but we ended up losing 1-0 in the last minute of the game. At the end we were gutted getting the placin 39th out of 39, but Anna (our coach who had to leave for family reasons) said we had to stay for prizgiving at 3pm the next day.

On Friday we went around some of the sports to watch the finals and see how our school teams were/are going. All other teams got good placings and scores through their pools and games. Then it came to the prize giving. They first up announced the Fair Play award (out of 98 teams), with out notice we won it. 2017 was the first year of the Fair Play award and once we heard that we got it we were literally screaming with excitement, not believing that we had won it. We all got a medal each and a trophy to take back to school. After getting the award we still didn't believe it. Overall AIMS week was really fun and I was lucky to go. If anyone from New Zealand that is either a year 7 or 8, then I strongly advice you to go.

Week 4 Term 3 2017 Reflection

On Monday we found out who the top chocolate sellers were. The top three people got the choice of a Xbox one, a GoPro and a bike and helmet. The person who sold the most boxes sold 26 boxes making $1560. The next person sold 13 boxes and made $780. The person in third sold 11 boxes and made $660. I forgot what else we did last week, but I also recall the maths test that we did on Friday last week.

Week 3 Term 3 2017 Reflection

On Monday morning we had an assembly where we found out that our fundraising chocolate saling time will be extended to the end of the week. After morning tea we had our speech writing. For my speech I am doing it on "the middle child". I will be presenting it on week 4 Tuesday (next week on Tuesday), and the order was chosen randomly out of a hat. In the afternoon we had a cross country run, I didn't do so well as last week when I got 6th in the class. I was one of the last people to come back because I was "including" Te Wehi to run with me. Also, because I twisted my ankle stepping in a big whole and Te Wehi hurt her Achilles Tendons.

On Tuesday morning we had maths where I learnt about the circumference of a circle as well as how to find the area, radius, segment and we learnt also got taught about pi. In the middle block we first up did our reading and our reading analysis task, then at about 12 o'clock we moved back onto our speeches. At this point we weren't allowed to write our speech, but we were allowed to put the speech on cue cards and practice our timing as well as reading them out loud. I forgot what we did in the afternoon, but I'm sure we had a cross country run.

On Wednesday morning we had maths. At this maths session I was working on some maths learning intentions about pi that we learnt about on Tuesday. I also finished my maths book so I had to use some pad paper. I don't really want to buy a whole new hardcover maths book, so I am probably going to keep using the pad paper for the rest of the year. After morning tea we worked on our speeches. As in we were reading them aloud and timing them. For my speech I'm doing it on about being the middle child. In my speech I have included facts ad proven statements about the youngest, middle and the eldest child. Also in my speech I am trying to persuade people to think differently about the middle child. After lunch we had the first aid coarse. Sponsored and presented by ASB. In this first aid coarse we learnt how to do the procedural  steps when someone hashad an accident. We also got a card with the instructions of how to do these steps. This is what it said...
Adult CPR

Response:Check for response: "can you hear me?".
Send for help: If no response, send for help- 111 for ambulance.
Airway: Tilt the head back and lift the chin.
Breathing: Look, listen and feel for normal breathing.
Commence CPR: If not breathing normally:
Place your hands on the centre of chest.
Push down hard and fast 30 times,
blow in the mouth 2 times.
Defibrillation: Attach an AED (deflib) if available.
Follow the instructions of the AED.

After Daniel teaching this to us he demonstrated how to cover up a wound or a big cut with a bandage. Bailey had a demonstration done on his arm. Soon after this Daniel told us and gave us each a laminated piece of paper with a fake phone and some questions. These questions of which are the questions that the ambulance people will be asking us. After all this, Daniel put us into groups and told us to go to different stations (Bandaging, questions and CPR on dummies). Here are some more photos.
On Thursday morning I had Band. At band we just practiced the songs that we are doing for the band festival in Week 4. We also got some notices about Skating at Murray's Bay which is in a few weeks from now. In the middle block I went to Jazz Band as per usual. At Jazz Band we were also practicing the songs for the Band Festival and we chose our songs for the Festival too. After lunch, I had Robotics. At Robotics I was making a robot. Later on I then moved on to helping Ayrin on her robot as another boy started to take over making the Robot.

On Friday morning I worked on finding the area of missing shapes (something like that anyway). We worked on maths for about 45 minutes. After this, we had French. At French class we were working on the french names for clothes and the colours of them too. We were also putting them into phrases to tell one another what type and colour our clothes were. After morning tea we had Tech Arts. As you know our tech arts is Music. For this lesson we were watching advertisements and we were looking to see how long they run for and what makes the ad attract people in. After watching these ads we then went on to use GarageBand on the Ipads. On this app you can create sounds and music by using all different sorts of instruments. Anyway, on the Ipads we were making some of our versions of ads. Like KFC, McDonalds and much more. In the day sometime I also learnt how to use Bitmojis on this app. In the afternoon we didn't end up having any Maori as to an accident that Fire Rangis son was involved with. So instead we carried on with anything we wanted. At about 2:15 the bell rang for Friday Sport. At Friday Sport we usually do a Cross Country run, but it started to ran for about 10 minutes so we didn't end up doing it. I wasn't meant to be doing it anyway because I would have had to go to WIMS Netball trials and AIMS Football practice. So that worked in my favor as I hadn't got my netball gear ready.

On Saturday at about 12:15 I went down to the netball courts to warm up for my game at 1.10. At netball there are many different teams, from six year olds to 50 year olds even. In my grade there are 10 teams, I'm in grade C btw.  So anyway I was playing GA (Goal Attack) for pretty much the whole game. Our team was also versing year 10-11's that play for college. Overall the game was closer than I thought also because we had only seven players (no subs). The score was 37-29 to them. In the afternoon of Saturday Brooke from rm 1 came round to my house. We made lots of cupcakes for the SPCA school fundraiser. We iced them with loads of icing and tried to make animals with the icing on the cupcakes.

On Sunday morning I went out to my friends farm out in Otorohanga. Since Calf Club Day is coming up, we decided to go out and chose a Calf. I am suck between two Calves no.8 and no.2. Both of these Calves are both really good Calves, but I am just stuck on which one to chose. Overall my week has been exciting and can't wait for next week.

Term 2 Week 2 Reflection 2017

On Monday first up we had an assembly. At the assembly, we had three gold badges given out and a load of silvers and bronze badges. On Tuesday morning we had tech arts. At tech arts we have been focusing on music patterns and beats. In this lesson we were focusing on Reggae music.
We were also looking at Bob Marley's music, Three Little birds. We ended up learning how to play most of this song on the keyboard, guitar and on the drums. On Wednesday I forgot what we had team cross country. On Thursday morning I had Symphonic band, then in the middle block i had Jazz band. In the afternoon we were going to have robotics, but we had the college expo. At the college expo the teachers from the college came and showed us some of the options we could take up in college in year 9. Overall, I only have two out of three options that I'm definitely doing. I'm definitely going to be doing Outdoor Education and
Agricultural & Horticultural Science

Week 1 Term 3 2017

Since Mrs Crowe has had a bit of a hearing issue, Mr McCab is teaching us this week. I totally forgot what we did last week, but I definitely remember that every single afternoon we did Cross Country practice. Our cross country course is 3km long roughly. We have one course that is similar to the real one, but it has a few short cuts. This course is about 1.5km. For our practices, we can either do the 1.5km course or a do the course twice which would be 3km long. On Tuesday we started our new tech arts, in this next tech art round we will be doing the Music tech. At this session of music we listened to some music and learnt how to recognize the different music by finding the different instruments and beats played in it. I forgot what we did the rest of the week, but I do know those above for sure

Week 7 Term 2 2017 Reflection

On Monday morning, we had assembly. Assembly was about one hour long, and we got some news back abut Mr Graham. About two-three weeks ago, Mr Graham was teaching a gymnast group, when Mr Graham and some other people were doing a flip competition. And since Mr Graham used to be a Gymnast, he tried to do a double front flip. He landed on his neck and had to go to hospital for the weekend. Mr Graham is at his house now resting and Mr Monk is back and teaching wood work while he is gone. Anyway, we got news about him saying that he is back at his house resting and he will hopefully be back at school next term.we had English, at English we learnt how to use comma's in the correct places in different wording of sentences. In this task we just had a bit of  test, and the people who got it all correct last week when we did another test, didn't have to do it. Unfortunately, that wasn't me, but I know that I'm not that good at English and I always take a while to get what ever it is locked in my head. In the afternoon of Monday, we had P.E, we were meant to do it in the A.L.C, but we decided to do it outside. We ended up playing soccer/football. Although we didn't have a ref or any actual boundaries, we still had fun. I feel some of the teams were uneven with the people that played soccer and people that didn't; therefore, the opposition team got quite a lot of goals and we didn't.

On Tuesday morning we had tech arts. In this tech art we are doing food tech. On July 23rd (Friday week 8) we are doing a food cafe for the parents and some teachers. At the food cafe our theme is "Healthy Cafe", for the Healthy Cafe I'm making either a Banana loaf or a Vanilla cake with a chocolate swirl in the middle with some strawberry's and toppings on top. During the tech art on Tuesday morning we were making up a recipe for a food product we are making. I made a few little banana/chocolate puddings, for the Healthy cafe, after I tasted my product, I was not happy as the texture was wrong and it tasted funny. So I will not be making that for the Cafe. In the middle block we had Maths, at Maths I was ahead of my group by about four learning intentions. I went onto the mat with the rest of my group and for me it was revising (cause I had done it) and for the rest of the group it was learning. On the mat we revised and learnt how to find the simplest form, for example...   10/30= 1/3,  50/100=5/10=1/2 etc.
We also revised and learnt how to find the equivalent fraction. An equivalent fraction is a fraction the same as another fraction, for example... 1/2= 2/4=10/20=1000/2000 etc. And... 3/9=6/18=9/27 etc.
In the afternoon I forgot what we did, but after school I had my Clarinet lesson. At my Clarinet lesson we didn't do much other than run through some of the songs and scales we have recently learnt. Straight after Clarinet (3:30pm) I had my BMX training. At training I learnt how to jump part of the triple on the last straight and some new technics when it comes to cutting riders off in the corners and on the straights.

On Wednesday morning we had Maths again. At Maths this time I did two more learning intentions. I forgot what they were, but I do know for a fact that I did two learning intentions. In the middle block
we had some spare time. In this spare time we got the choice of carrying on with our maths, do some of our report writing or do some reading. In this time bracket I did some of my argument writing. For our writing we are writing about if the law should be changed about either wearing helmets whilst riding a bike or not. I am going towards the rule, "we should have helmets at all times while on a bike".  Already I have written about 2/3's of my argument. On Wednesday at lunchtime we had an inter-class dodgeball game against rm 14. We ended up winning two games, losing one and drew once. Since we had two wins and more points over us and rm14 then we won. After lunchtime we had the middle block. Before jump jam we had more spare time. In this spare time I decided to do some of my reading task. In the reading tasks that my group is doing, we have to read a short story (three-four pages). We then have to write down the protagonist and if the character you chose is a dynamic character or a round character. We then have to write some of the character traits and some evidence from the story to prove those traits. After this we had Jump Jam. At Jump Jam we have roughly five or six songs, sometimes we have more.

On Thursday morning, I had band. At band we practice the pieces that are new and/or are what we are going to play in some band events coming up. We have just recently got a new piece from the movie "Moana", the song is called "how far I will go, from Alisia Cara". We were meant to play this piece in the combined band festival that was about a month ago, but the piece of music didn't arrive until the week after. In the middle block I had Jazz Band, instead of Jazz Band we had to highlight some of our music pieces (the parts of it we don't understand and need to practice). Since I had already don't that at home, I decided to do some extra maths work in the hub (while Mrs Crowe was doing robotics). Then we had school singing, at school singing some of the songs were abit inappropriate and some of the songs didn't have lyrics (correct lyrics), on the screen; therefore, we had to stop the song and go onto the next song. After lunch on Thursday I had robotics. At robotics we got introduced to a new website and a new game called "Expedition Atlantis". This game includes maths and programming. There are four levels in each stage and we have to complete every stage by Thursday week8.

On Friday was teachers only day, so we had no school. On Friday I was on the app we used on Thursday, but not all day. We had to look after my mums friends son. So we went out for lunch and to the park etc. On Saturday I had netball, I didn't actually have netball as the opposition team defaulted, so my team tequnicly won. My mums team won here game (29-28). And my sisters team also won their game (16-13).
Overall my week was full of all sorts of stuff, next week should hopefully be the same.

term 2 Week 6 Reflection 2017

On Monday was the Queens birthdays, therefore no school on Monday. On Tuesday at my Clarinet lesson after school, we learnt what our E scale, G scale and our highest note (C). After Clarinet I had BMX training, I learnt how to double manual on the last jump of the track and also how to jump the first double on the third straight. On Wednesday we had English in the middle block and I learnt how to use commas in the correct places of words ending with "s". I still don't fully understand all the rules, but I have realised after time I am a very slow learner. On Thursday at band in the morning I learnt how to play "how far I will go", off the movie "Moana". In the afternoon block of Thursday, I learnt how to program a sphero to go around a mini obstacle corse using "JavaScript". On Friday morning (before school), my finger got jammed in the door, so I had to go to the office all morning so I couldn't finish my writing. My fingernail root is crushed so my nail will fall off in the next week or two. In the morning block of Friday, I learnt how to say some of the colours, numbers and what the weather is in French. My week was good this week as I learnt lots at Maths, English, French and we were on chairs duty, but didn't have to do them all week.

Term 2 Week 2 2017 Reflection

This week on Monday I went to young leaders day. At NYLD (National Young Leaders day), we saw and listened to lots of semi famous people from New Zealand, such as Trina Tamati and Matt Brown. I learnt to never give up and to always carry on, even if you are unsuccessful in whatever you are doing. On Tuesday I learnt at my clarinet lesson a new note. I also learnt how to play some confusing songs that got given to us last week (week 2). On Wednesday we had Inter-class Vollyball. We ended up winning to room 16, 46-21 (or a score similar to that). I learnt how to serve properly by some of my teammates. On Thursday I had symphonic band in the morning block, Jazz band and school singing in the middle block and Robotics in the afternoon block. At Robotics I learnt how to program the sphero to go through a custom track made with block sticks. Te Wehi and I decided to make a track that both of our spheros can go on at the same time. We made it like a mirror, so the spheros would do the exact same thing, but different direction at the exact same time. We only ended up programming 3/4 of the track, but the track was quite long and had lots or corners. And on Friday we had French in the morning, Tech Arts in the middle block and we were meant to have Friday Sport in the afternoon block, but it was raining so it was cancelled. At Moari (instead of Friday sport), I learnt what a wide range of Moari words mean. Such as Moana means Ocean and Aotearoa actually means Land of the long white cloud. Overall in my week I learnt heaps.

Week 3 Term 2 Reflection 2017

I have totally forgotten what happened last week. But I do remember the maths we did. At maths I learnt how to solve equations using backtracking. I have been taught two different ways... The first method is by using backtracking, with the squares and arrows. And the next method is when you take off the numbers to find X (or whatever letter there is). On Tuesday or Wednesday, we had inter class Dodgeball. It was against room 2, we won two games and we decided to let them win so we could play more. After that game, the next game was close and we ended up getting a draw. They tallied up the points from the games and we ended up winning against them, because we had more points. On Wednesday and Thursday, MataMata Intermediate and Cambridge Middle school came to our school for the annual Music Band Camp. We practiced our peices and played a concert on Thursday night. At food tech on Friday, we learnt how to make Piacattia bread and proper pizzas, with the proper base. Overall, I forgot what mostly happened, but I did have fun at volleyball and tech arts.

Term 1 Holiday Reflection 2017

During the holidays I have been out on farm with my mum, hanging with friends and more. My mum is a vet, so she goes on lots of  call outs/has lots of jobs to do. During my time out with mum we have seen cows with problems such as, infections, scanning to see if the cow has a calve (if not, sent to the works) and more. One thing I found very interesting and wanted to research about was a cow that we saw while scanning the cows. This cow was a Free-martin... From my understanding and some of my  research is that a Free-martin is a cow who is a twin with a male cow and got confused what gender they are meant to be, therefore looking like a girl, but its not but it is at the same time. The Free-martin looks like a girl, but has no udders or uterus. These cows usually get sent to the works, because of this problem. Also during the holdidays I went out to Marakopa with my friend and meet lots of her family. We saw all the flooding around that area. We walked up the streets and roads in the flooding water, which in fact the water was about up to my waist and higher. With out intentions my mum and I went out to Marakopa a few days later to a dog that I had revived about 16 months ago. 16 months ago, the puppy was dead when it came out of its mum (the dog), and I decided to try revive it as everyone thought it had died. I ended up getting it to scream like a kitten, which indicates that its alive. Overall my Term one holidays was exciting and interesting at the same time.

Term 1 Reflection 2017

Over term one we have had; camp, assemblies, lots of maths and we worked on puncuation a bit. My favourite week of term one will have to be the week we went to camp. We had so much fun at camp as we did loads of activities and lots of team stuff. During term one I have learnt how to do a multiplication and subtraction algorithms correctly, as I had forgotten in the tests, and puncuation (commas and capitals).

Goals For Term 2 (and holidays, maybe):
I still have to work on my integers, as I get really confused about sub - sub =... and add+ sub =...
I need to revise my algorithems and keep practicing so I dont forget for the tests to came.
Also to read a wide range of books and challenging books, to find what book I enjoy and gives my brain a challenge.

See ya next Term! :)

Week 7 Reflection Term 1 2017

On Monday we had an assembly in the morning. In the middle block we had maths and I learnt how to understand powers and/or index numbers.  On Tuesday morning we had tech, and during that tech art we made a jersey, beanies, football and we also had the option of making some slippers or is we wanted to make something of our own (little pillow, small hand sewn ball etc). I learnt how to sew a beanie together with little material. On Thursday I had band in the morning. Mr Stanbridge asked me to help all the beginner clarinets because they were puzzled on some notes. The Flutes and Clarinets had a group first, then the saxophones and tennisax and baritone sax etc. came in then the flutes went out to practice. On Friday we had tech and Friday sport as usual.

Wellington Camp week 8 2017

I found Wellington very fun as we did over 15 activities. My favorite activities were; Weta Workshop, Capital E, Snorkeling at Island Bay and Parliment. On Monday we went to Weta Workshop and saw lots of props that were used in movies, such as, lord of the rings. After Weta Workshop, we went to Zealandia and we learnt about all the birds that were getting looked after or cared for in the facility. On Tuesday we went to the Parliament and we meet Andrew Little (Labour party leader), and he started talking to us and asking questions. In Parliament, we walked around with our tour guide and he taught us lots during the tour. On Wednesday we went to Capital E and went to the Media Lab and ONTV. We learnt about virtual reality at the Media lab, and we worked with cameras and green screens, with our video, Once Upon A Crime. After Capital E, we went to the Te Papa Bug Lab. Where we learnt about bugs such as, Mosquitos, Cicadas and more. Did you know that Mosquitos kill 1.5M people a year? On Thursday we went to the Wellington Zoo, we learnt lots about the animals there and my favorite animal is the Otter. After the Zoo we went Snorkeling at Island Bay. It was really cold, but I stayed in and carried on. We saw lots of fish and a few schools of Mackerel. There was lots of seaweed, so in some areas were the instructors pointed out that there were some interesting fish, we couldn't see them because of the seaweed. On Friday we had a long trip home, leaving at about 6am and getting back to school at about 2pm.

Week 5 Term 1 Reflection 2017

Wecome to my week 5 reflection...
On Monday we had an assembly which wasnt as long as I thought it was going to be, it turned out only being just over half- an hour. In the middle block we had a online Astle reading test, which took the whole block. In the afternoon we had Maths then P.E outside. For P.E we play softball and im usually 3rd base, short stop and sometimes pitcher. On Tuesday morning we had a test for Puncuation, and some answers of which I totally forgot what they meant. In the middle block on Tuesday we had Maths, and at maths I learnt how to find the HCM (Highest common multiple) and the LCM (Lowest common multiple) of given numbers. I forgot what we did in the Tuesday middle block, but in the afternoon I know we had Writing, where we have to write an explanation about one of the seven wonders of the world and say why it is and describe what's good and important about whatever the wonder is. Then later in the afternoon we had P.E where again we played softball.  On Wednesday we had Jump Jam in the afternoon and there were some songs that we hadn't "Jump Jammed" too, since last year in about Term 2- Term 3. On Thursday I was out all day with Symphonic Band (Morning), Jazz Band and school singing (Middle block) and in the afternoon we had robotics (the first class for me). At Robotic we had a class of about twelve people and we learnt that 0 (Zero) and 1 (One), can be used to code. On Friday we had swimming sports all day. I found this swimming sports fun, as all of Waikato had a little new add on to our chant. We all sang it loud and proud, earning the bonus point. Unfortunately, we got second, but overall we are still coming first (with house points). Overall this week was the funnest week of the year with swimming sports, P.E and more, other than testing, but we have finished testing now- YAY!

Week 3 Term 1 Reflection

During week 3 I was in the danish rounders team and we had our semi-final game on Tuesday and we won so now we are in the finals with room 13. I learnt that in danish rounders you cant get out running to the first base unless the ball gets caught. We also did an Astle writing test last week and editing. For the astle writing Mrs Crowe came up with a random subject "Is sport more important than music" or "Is music more important than sport". I choose sport is more important because I beleive sport keeps you more healthy then listening  or playing music, I also have some more reasons in the writing. Also we had WIMS swimming trials and times for the finals in a couple weeks. During this we got to choose what ever swimming events we desire and swim them, these races were timed for the finals helded in a couple weeks and also the best times in each swimming event for each year group (yr 7 girls, yr 7 boys, yr 8 girls and yr 8 boys), are elected to go to WIMS swimming which is in a few weeks time. We also did our visual poster about "me". In this task we had to do past, present and future columns, we had to add photos or images to describe what we wanted in the future, what we have now and what we used to have or add photos in the columns etc.

First 3 weeks of TAI yr 8

Today is the end of week 3 term 1. During the time that we are back at school we have done a visual poster about our selfs, done a maths test and alstle writing we have also done some PE and been to lots of big assemblys. During the time Ive been at school I have tryed for house captain of Waikato, even though I didnt get it I still think Im a leader.
