Term 4 Goals 2017
Since this year is my last year and this Term is my last Term at TAI. I want to finish my year on a high, but the only way to do so is to make some goals. My first goal for Term Four is to learn how to use commas correctly. My next goal is to not talk and/or get distracted by others next to me or around me. Since we have Nicky and Harold at our school, I also want to make a goal and ask more questions about this particular topic that we are focusing on. Another goal would have to be to elaborate my ideas when writing a free choice peice of writing. All these goals pretty much sum up my Term Four goals.
Term 3 Holidays recap
On the first weekend of the holidays I went and helped mum dock some sheep. Since mums a vet, she allows me to go help her and I also get paid from it. We drove out to Otorohanga for this job, and the man who owns the farm is Mike. Mike is the owner of a sheep farm, he also breeds lots of Murray Grey's and sells lots of bulls too. This year was his first year going for a bull sale and luckily enough, I got to cook food for everyone there and help wash the bulls before auction . Anyway, on the Sunday of this weekend, Mike and my Mum were going to dock some Sheep, but didnt have enough people to do so. So I volunteered to help, but first I worked out a deal. Ten bucks an hour, and even then, mum gave me more afterwards. So to dock the sheep, you put them down a little shot, upside down facing. Then you have to vaccinate them twice, give them a drench down the throat, put a hole in their ears, use a scratch on their fore leg, put a rubber band on their tales and put a spray on there stomach. All these drenches and that help the sheep fight against certain diseases. My job was to put a hole in their ears and to also give each sheep two vaccinations. After about six hours worth of docking sheep, I made myself $70 and we managed to dock 296 lambs.
On Wednesday, my sister Anita and I went out to our mums clients daughters house, Kate's house. She also lives out in Otorohanga and also lives on a farm. This year forcalf club we got our calves from their house and they are really good calves too. The whole point of going out to her house was to spend lots of quality time brushing, leading and washing our calves. On Saturday we had the MataMata A&P Show. My calf, Mia, did very well winning a first in Rearing. A fifth in Type and a Third place overall for Rearing (out of 70 calves). Unfortunately Anita's calf, Zee, didn't win anything, and Kate won a First in Rearing, a sixth in Type and Reserve Champion overall for Rearing (2nd place in front of me). Kate and I were very close competition as the judges had to decide the Reserve champion between us and also fifth and sixth for Type.
On Tuesday my mum, twoothers plus me, drove down to New Plymouth. We were heading down to my grand parent's house to dehorn some calves and also vaccinate. As soon as we got out of the car, we were straight into it. Trent on clipping and shaving around the horn, Aleisha on injecting local anesthetic around the horns, me on vaccinating each calf twice, keeping track of how many calves we did and also to inject the calves so they fall asleep. Then my mum dehorn's the calves after everyone else has done their jobs. Overall we did 129 calves and it took us about four hours to do all the calves and also four hours driving time. For this job I earnt $130 and I was stoked with that.
Once again Anita and I went to Kate's house. This time on Friday to again, wash, brush and lead the calves. The next competition for us is next week held atTe Awamutu Primary School . Anita and I usually do really well at these smaller events as there aren't as many people in it. At the A&P Shows, there are about 20-30 people in each ring, and about 10 in the non A&P Shows. On Saturday Anita, Kate, Trent and I went to dck more sheep. This time it was for fun and we docked about 160 sheep. This time docking was really fun as the sheep were bigger and escaped from their pen alot . Therefore having to catch them before they jump out or go and catch them. r another had days work I ended up catching six sheep and caught an Eel. After docking we wnt out more onto Mike's farm and went and caught Eels. I ended up catching one and we had loads of fun catching them. I w i l l keep you guys updated with next weeks lot next week.

AIMS Week 2017
At AIMS there are many different sports (23 to be exact). I was in two of those 23 sports, BMX and Football. On Sunday my sister was doing the Cross Country, so I had to go watch and support her. Anita and I are both conveniently in the AIMS Football teams for Te Awamutu Intermediate School. We had to be at our motel on Sunday as well, so that worked in our faver.
On Monday we had our first three games. At this point we didn't know many of the competitors as they were from many different schools from around New Zealand. The first three games were hard. It was constantly going down our end then unanticipated went down there end of the field. Unfortunately we lost all of our games on Monday, but we all had fun trying.
On Tuesday the team played another three games. I was at BMX on Tuesday so I didnt play. But I heard lots about the day from the Football team. Once again we lost all our games. but they were actually close games. The first couple games we did reasonably well in. The team managed to lose by one or two goals. The final game, not so much. We lost about 6-0. Meanwhile I was at the Tauranga BMX Track doing time trials. Essentially what happens is that each rider has a small, yellow transponder on the front forks of their bike. This device tracks how long your race is from start to finish, and they are exact times too. Each rider then races on the track twice (by them selves) to get an individual time put under their name. Overall I got 44.75 seconds for my first trial and 45.65 seconds for my second run through. For this event I got ninth overall.
On Wednesday morning it was an early start, getting up at about 5:45 to make lunches, pack day packs, get gear on and drive to the sports ground. Our first game was at 9:30am and we were tired, but still strenuous enough to carry on. We thankfully drew our first game 0-0 to MataMata Intermediate School. I really enjoyed this game more than the rest that I had played, because it was more even and Tai had the ball more, which gave us confidence. Unfortunately their defense was really onto it and stopped us fro getting a goal multiple times. The next game was also very even, miserably in the rain we lost 2-0. And in the last game of the day we lost again 2-0. After the last game we were all feeling down, wet and tired. For Hannah this was worse as she was feeling really sick and not bothered to do much activeness on the field. After all of the games we headed down to the Mount Manganui Hot Pools for a relaxing swim. One hour later we were all freshened up and ready to head back to the motel.
On Thursday I had BMX again, but this time it was actual racing. In this event we had to race against one another to get a placing. We still had the transponders on our bikes, just in case we had a "photo finish", but times instead. In this event I got ninth again. Winning my B-final with two points off from making the final. In this event we had five races and who ever had the top eight placings got a spot in the final, unfortunately for me I was two points off. So I had to go into the B-Final, and I infact won it, getting the overall placing off ninth. Back at Blake park, we had one game at 9:30 again and we didn't have much talking going on on the field so we lost again 8-0. I was luckily back at 2:30 in time for our second game at 3pm. For everone else it was great I was back, because we finally had a sub as Sam left, Anita was sick and Hannah wasn't feeling well either. So we had a sub so everyone can change if required. Once again we played against MataMata, but we ended up losing 1-0 in the last minute of the game. At the end we were gutted getting the placin 39th out of 39, but Anna (our coach who had to leave for family reasons) said we had to stay for prizgiving at 3pm the next day.
On Friday we went around some of the sports to watch the finals and see how our school teams were/are going. All other teams got good placings and scores through their pools and games. Then it came to the prize giving. They first up announced the Fair Play award (out of 98 teams), with out notice we won it. 2017 was the first year of the Fair Play award and once we heard that we got it we were literally screaming with excitement, not believing that we had won it. We all got a medal each and a trophy to take back to school. After getting the award we still didn't believe it. Overall AIMS week was really fun and I was lucky to go. If anyone from New Zealand that is either a year 7 or 8, then I strongly advice you to go.

Week 4 Term 3 2017 Reflection
On Monday we found out who the top chocolate sellers were. The top three people got the choice of a Xbox one, a GoPro and a bike and helmet. The person who sold the most boxes sold 26 boxes making $1560. The next person sold 13 boxes and made $780. The person in third sold 11 boxes and made $660. I forgot what else we did last week, but I also recall the maths test that we did on Friday last week.

Week 3 Term 3 2017 Reflection
On Monday morning we had an assembly where we found out that our fundraising chocolate saling time will be extended to the end of the week. After morning tea we had our speech writing. For my speech I am doing it on "the middle child". I will be presenting it on week 4 Tuesday (next week on Tuesday), and the order was chosen randomly out of a hat. In the afternoon we had a cross country run, I didn't do so well as last week when I got 6th in the class. I was one of the last people to come back because I was "including" Te Wehi to run with me. Also, because I twisted my ankle stepping in a big whole and Te Wehi hurt her Achilles Tendons.
On Tuesday morning we had maths where I learnt about the circumference of a circle as well as how to find the area, radius, segment and we learnt also got taught about pi. In the middle blockwe first up did our reading and our reading analysis task, then at about 12 o'clock we moved back onto our speeches. At this point we weren't allowed to write our speech, but we were allowed to put the speech on cue cards and practice our timing as well as reading them out loud. I forgot what we did in the afternoon, but I'm sure we had a cross country run.
On Wednesday morning we had maths. At this maths session I was working on some maths learning intentions about pi that we learnt about on Tuesday. I also finished my maths book so I had to use some pad paper. I don't really want to buy a whole new hardcover maths book, so I am probably going to keep using the pad paper for the rest of the year. After morning tea we worked on our speeches. As in we were reading them aloud and timing them. For my speech I'm doing it on about being the middle child. In my speech I have included facts ad proven statements about the youngest, middle and the eldest child. Also in my speech I am trying to persuade people to think differently about the middle child. After lunch we had the first aid coarse. Sponsored and presented by ASB. In this first aid coarse we learnt how to do the procedural steps when someone hashad an accident. We also got a card with the instructions of how to do these steps. This is what it said...

After Daniel teaching this to us he demonstrated how to cover up a wound or a big cut with a bandage. Bailey had a demonstration done on his arm. Soon after this Daniel told us and gave us each a laminated piece of paper with a fake phone and some questions. These questions of which are the questions that the ambulance people will be asking us. After all this, Daniel put us into groups and told us to go to different stations (Bandaging, questions and CPR on dummies). Here are some more photos.
On Thursday morning I had Band. At band we just practiced the songs that we are doing for the band festival in Week 4. We also got some notices about Skating at Murray's Bay which is in a few weeks from now. In the middle block I went to Jazz Band as per usual. At Jazz Band we were also practicing the songs for the Band Festival and we chose our songs for the Festival too. After lunch, I had Robotics. At Robotics I was making a robot. Later on I then moved on to helping Ayrin on her robot as another boy started to take over making the Robot.
On Friday morning I worked on finding the area of missing shapes (something like that anyway). We worked on maths for about 45 minutes. After this, we had French. At French class we were working on the french names for clothes and the colours of them too. We were also putting them into phrases to tell one another what type and colour our clothes were. After morning tea we had Tech Arts. As you know our tech arts is Music. For this lesson we were watching advertisements and we were looking to see how long they run for and what makes the ad attract people in. After watching these ads we then went on to use GarageBand on the Ipads. On this app you can create sounds and music by using all different sorts of instruments. Anyway, on the Ipads we were making some of our versions of ads. Like KFC, McDonalds and much more. In the day sometime I also learnt how to use Bitmojis on this app. In the afternoon we didn't end up having any Maori as to an accident that Fire Rangis son was involved with. So instead we carried on with anything we wanted. At about 2:15 the bell rang for Friday Sport. At Friday Sport we usually do a Cross Country run, but it started to ran for about 10 minutes so we didn't end up doing it. I wasn't meant to be doing it anyway because I would have had to go to WIMS Netball trials and AIMS Football practice. So that worked in my favor as I hadn't got my netball gear ready.
On Saturday at about 12:15 I went down to the netball courts to warm up for my game at 1.10. At netball there are many different teams, from six year olds to 50 year olds even. In my grade there are 10 teams, I'm in grade C btw. So anyway I was playing GA (Goal Attack) for pretty much the whole game. Our team was also versing year 10-11's that play for college. Overall the game was closer than I thought also because we had only seven players (no subs). The score was 37-29 to them. In the afternoon of Saturday Brooke from rm 1 came round to my house. We made lots of cupcakes for the SPCA school fundraiser. We iced them with loads of icing and tried to make animals with the icing on the cupcakes.
On Sunday morning I went out to my friends farm out in Otorohanga. Since Calf Club Day is coming up, we decided to go out and chose a Calf. I am suck between two Calves no.8 and no.2. Both of these Calves are both really good Calves, but I am just stuck on which one to chose. Overall my week has been exciting and can't wait for next week.

Term 2 Week 2 Reflection 2017
On Monday first up we had an assembly. At the assembly, we had three gold badges given out and a load of silvers and bronze badges. On Tuesday morning we had tech arts. At tech arts we have been focusing on music patterns and beats. In this lesson we were focusing on Reggae music.
We were also looking at Bob Marley's music, Three Little birds. We ended up learning how to play most of this song on the keyboard, guitar and on the drums. On Wednesday I forgot what we had team cross country. On Thursday morning I had Symphonic band, then in the middle block i had Jazz band. In the afternoon we were going to have robotics, but we had the college expo. At the college expo the teachers from the college came and showed us some of the options we could take up in college in year 9. Overall, I only have two out of three options that I'm definitely doing. I'm definitely going to be doing Outdoor Education and

Week 1 Term 3 2017
Since Mrs Crowe has had a bit of a hearing issue, Mr McCab is teaching us this week. I totally forgot what we did last week, but I definitely remember that every single afternoon we did Cross Country practice. Our cross country course is 3km long roughly. We have one course that is similar to the real one, but it has a few short cuts. This course is about 1.5km. For our practices, we can either do the 1.5km course or a do the course twice which would be 3km long. On Tuesday we started our new tech arts, in this next tech art round we will be doing the Music tech. At this session of music we listened to some music and learnt how to recognize the different music by finding the different instruments and beats played in it. I forgot what we did the rest of the week, but I do know those above for sure
